How to choose the right poster size for your wall
A poster in the wrong size can make even the most beautiful wall feel off. Here is the simple rule we use.
The most common mistake we see? A lovely poster drowning on a wall that is too big for it. The good news: there is a simple rule.
The two-thirds rule
Pick a poster (or group) that fills about two thirds of the wall or the furniture below it. Hanging above a sofa? Aim for a total width of ~2/3 of the sofa.
Hanging height
The centre of the poster should sit at eye level — roughly 145-150 cm from the floor. This holds even above furniture; don't let the sofa fool you.
Sizes that almost always work
- 30×40 cm — for gallery walls and small nooks
- 50×70 cm — the versatile favourite for most walls
- 70×100 cm — a statement above a sofa or bed
When in doubt, size up. Slightly too big almost always beats slightly too small.
